Amazing Calacatta Kitchen 🙂

If I wanted to re-create this backsplash I would over order by 20% possible 25% so I could pick through and create the exact look wanted. It did not install itself and it was not installed box-to-box like a ceramic. You are creating art with natural stone and you or the person you are working with then certainly the complexity of Calacatta Gold is not for you. Get it right, installed correctly and you have not just good but exceptional! Gold 🙂

A nice collection of 3×6″ Honed arrived last month.  Unfortunately only 2,500SF arrived and now by the time I am finally getting around to writing this post there is only 782SF left in stock.  It has a nice look.  Not too much veining just the right amount.  The quarry has taken the time to mix and blend these crates well.  The pictures we provide are very simply done.  We just lift the lids off the crates as they come in.  Here you can see a crate then we simply pull out some tiles from a box and lay it on the boxes.  Then snap 🙂

We are receiving more Calacatta 3×6″ Honed in March (this is just an estimate as it is still in production).  Once that shipment arrives we will get pictures of it and post on the blog.

Love the way this has come together. They must have used tile from the backsplash in their kitchen to match this around the fireplace. Love it and how well the Calacatta Gold goes with the wooden mantel top. This is a well organized installation.

Interesting fact about Calacatta Gold (the real genuine product from Italy as this is). There is only one Calacatta Gold quarry left in the world. That is why we frequently run out of products in the collection and cannot significantly expand it, it is a hard product to get and to get in good quality is very hard. In fact it has become so challenging you know have companies simply saying they have “Calacatta” which simply means a white marble with Gray veining. They avoid the word Gold.

Calacatta 1×1″ Hexagon and Venato 3×6″ Honed Subway Tile

People are used to seeing Carrara in retailers.  The common view of Carrara is gray with gray veining.  The reality is if you have offices in Europe (like us) you can actually get some far lighter shades of marble stone.  In this image above we are showing the 1″ Hexagon Calacatta with the 3×6″ Honed Venato.

Anyone looking for a Calacatta bathroom but doesn’t quite have the budget for Calacatta 3×6″ Subway Tiles ($16.95SF) the Carrara Venato Collection in a 3×6″ format is a great substitute for only $7.00SF.   The whiter base of the Venato blends nicely with the Hexagon.  The Venato will not have the Calacatta gold veining, but it will look good on the walls and due to it’s white base offer a good option or substitute, when budgets or availability are an issue.

On a cold morning in Alpharetta, GA (I know we do not get that many of them so I am not whining) we took these pictures.  The sun was coming up and incredibly bright as it glared into our warehouse.  While we have the shutter doors open, these pictures are not actually taken in the sun but in the shade.  You can see the line of sun in the first picture.

We added some of our 3×6″ Calacatta honed and Calacatta pencil trims honed to the picture to show how well it matches for any bathroom applications.  The price of just $14.95SF is bound to cause some concern and we would be happy to take $50.00SF (like our brick and mortar competitors) if it makes you feel better, but the reality is:

1. We buy direct, so no supply chain to swallow up margin – instead we pass the savings onto you.  You are essentially positioned in the supply chain as a retailer.
2. We buy volume.  Full containers which 43,000Lbs of marble, the maximum allowed on US highways.  Economies of scale take effect.  Then we pass the savings onto you.
3. No frills marketing strategy.  It’s not that we like to keep things a secret we just want to avoid the costs associated with telling everyone.  Those “telling everyone” costs can quickly represent 10-20% increase on the product cost.  It would take our $14.95SF 12×12″ Calacatta to $18SF.  Instead we hope the product quality will be so impressive and price so amazing you will tell everyone.  So please, please, please “tell everyone”.
